So I decided I like to run backwards even more then running forwards...good times and a bit of a surprise.....this was a good little workout....I enjoyed it.

This was a suprise to me as to how hard this workout was. I was not sure how my knee would handle it, but it was fine. My quads felt the running backwards. So Mike what is the benefit of running backwards? Does it help your run? It was a great workout just wondering the benefit.
Thanks,
Angela

Angela,
The real benefit of running backwards is a practical one developed by man long ago who got caught with his shorts down at the wrong place. He had to runaway and keep an I eye on "Angry Man" chasing him to beat the living daylights out of him. The technique was further developed by criminal elements leaving the scene of a crime. The athletic benefit is that it engages the ankles, knees, and hips from a different angle. The different angle makes it more quad dominant than hamstring. But the best benefit is that it gets the endocrine system to pumping out all those good hormones we need for repairing and building stronger bodies. Hope this answers your question, and I hope you never need this skill in real life. MP
